"Scientists Concerned and Informed on the Environment Speak Out" is an interdisciplinary team of like-minded scientists from around the world who are concerned with preserving the earth with all of its biodiversity and for the betterment of all of its diverse peoples.

In a world of specialization, we spend most of our time communicating with others of similar training or in a local circle of friends. SCIESO set out from the beginning with a different model, one based on pooling knowledge across disciplines — and around the world. The problems facing us — from pollution to climate change — are complex, and we believe this requires sharing both knowledge and support. An interdisciplinary approach is critical to understanding causes and coming up with ways to move forward.

Scientists have been muzzled — and had their reputations trashed in some instances! Meanwhile much of mainstream media prints corporate and political spin and propaganda. When science and scientists are muzzled or ignored, bad things happen; it is the ethical and moral responsibility of other scientists to give them voice.

There is also the concept of "think globally, but ACT locally". So our Actions are directed to local problems, and local centres of power, but with the backing of our extended international members. This might, on occasion, require local working groups to carry out additional research. It might also require pilot projects developed locally, but scalable or exportable to other locales.

If you see value to this approach, and have scientific training or experience, and suscribe to and demonstrate a belief in the "Fundamental Principles" as listed on this site, you may apply to join the group by following the directions under CONTACT US. If you represent a group with similar concerns, it would be a win-win to have you listed as an affiliate, with a link to you group.
