Expectations:

Beyond saying "yes" to membership and providing enough information to allow us to create and post a bio, there's no further required action on your part! Anything beyond that is strictly voluntary and as time permits. Remember that both quality and numbers count — so just having your name and qualifications on our site is important to us!

If we choose to "speak out" (see examples under "actions"), you might get a draft one or two page doc from us with an invitation to add your name in support. You can ignore this if you are too busy; read, and then ignore it, if it doesn't interest you; or read, and say "yes, add my name". That's it!

Benefits:

This is an interdisciplinary group with many skill sets. Looking for collaborators or reviewers? Need help with a paper? Need comparative information from somewhere else in the world? Looking for new approaches or new understandings or new technology? Other members or people in their networks might have answers you need.

Or perhaps something is amiss in your local area — poorly maintained infrastructure, polluting industries, threats to biodiversity ..... Might it help you to be able to develop a position paper and get support from SCIESO members willing to attach their names to your intiative?
